Biography
Mason Jones is a musician, noise artist, writer, and visual artist, based in San Francisco, CA. He started the underground music label Charnel Music in 1988, releasing many albums by experimental artists, with a particular focus on underground musicians from Japan. His own projects have included Trance, SubArachnoid Space, and Numinous Eye, among others; as well as many releases under his own name, both solo and in collaboration with other musicians. He has written both fiction and non-fiction, including publishing the journal Ongaku Otaku, devoted to spreading the word about Japanese alternative music. As a visual artist, Mason's focus is on pen & ink drawings, and acrylic paintings, as well as occasional photography. His work is generally surrealist or abstract. He has also done extensive work as a graphic designer for many CDs, albums, books, and magazines.
